Hello everyone:
This week I spoke at the Gaining Ground Summit in Victoria. I had the opportunity to make some brief remarks on the plans to pilot the Global Urban Sustainability Solutions Exchange (GUSSE) this fall in the metro Vancouver region, and my broader view of the potential impacts and opportunities associated with Expo 2010 in Shanghai. These are both themes that I hope to explore with this blog over the ensuing months.
GUSSE is an innovative online community that brings together the most current, valuable and trusted solutions for urban sustainabilty and then refines and applies them within a "social networking" framework that harnesses collective wisdom and experience on a global scale.
Expo 2010 is a world exposition themed "Better City, Better Life" to run from May 1 - Oct 31, 2010. Over 170 pavilions are confirmed -- 143 of these are national pavilions. Expected attendance is 80 million people.
Check out these sites and then let me know your views on either of these undertakings. I look forward to hearing from you.
